JAMELL RICHARDSON
S-a născut în Meridian, Mississippi și a crescut în micul oraș Butler din Alabama.
Cântă la chitară de la vârsta de 11 ani, la început influiențat de muzica gospel (alături de Rance Allen, Paul Beasley, la Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp și alții), iar apoi de B.B King, Jimi Hendrix, George Benson, Eric Johnson și mulți alții.
Până în 2012, a fost în turneu și înregistrări cu legendarul Southern Soul Bluesman Mel Waiters, fiind prezentat ca „Young Gun” sau „Phenomenal Guitar Player”.
L-a interpretat pe Jimmy Nolen în filmul „Get On Up”, fiind și instructorul de chitară al filmului.
În 2021, a primit premiul „King of the bues awards ”, un tribut adus lui B.B KING de către Fundația Jus Blues Music.
Și-a lansat EP-ul de debut „Gulf Coast Blues Boy” în 2014 și albumul complet „Blues How I Wanna Blues în 2017, iar în prezent, scrie, produce și înregistrează la Legendary Sun Studio Memphis, Tennessee.Jamell Richardson revine la Blues in the garden festival, în seara magică de 21 august 2026.
Born in Meridian, Mississippi, he grew up in the small town of Butler, Alabama.
He has been playing guitar since the age of 11, initially influenced by gospel music (alongside Rance Allen, Paul Beasley, Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp, and others), and later by B.B King, Jimi Hendrix, George Benson, Eric Johnson, and many others.
Until 2012, he toured and recorded with the legendary Southern Soul Bluesman Mel Waiters, being introduced as „Young Gun” or „Phenomenal Guitar Player.” He played the role of Jimmy Nolen in the film Get On Up, where he also served as the film’s guitar instructor.
In 2021, he received the „King of the Blues Awards,” a tribute to B.B. King from the Jus Blues Music Foundation.
He released his debut EP, Gulf Coast Blues Boy, in 2014 and his full album, Blues How I Wanna Blues, in 2017. He currently writes, produces, and records at the Legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee.
